Meet Max
During my studies, I got in touch with the timber industry through a connection. In 2019, I started my own company, Max Hout. Entrepreneurship runs in my blood. From a young age, I have been involved in trade, and eventually, that led me to timber—a beautiful product with endless possibilities.
Besides running my business, sports are a big passion of mine. I have played football and tennis competitively, and recently, I have taken up golf. Additionally, I am an avid skier and can often be found on the slopes as soon as the season begins.
I live in Breda with my girlfriend, daughter, and dog. My dog accompanies me to the office every day and joins me when I visit clients.
Building relationships with customers and suppliers is very important to me. I enjoy bringing supply and demand together. My company has now been in business for over five years, and I can proudly say that it is standing strong. I have great confidence in the future.

Meet Harm
If you work in the timber trade, you might already know me—I’ve been active in the timber and building materials industry since 1999. My name is Harm Weidenaar, and I’d love to share a bit about my background and why I chose Max Hout.
In 1999, I started my career at Fetim in Amsterdam, a wholesale company specializing in cladding, panel materials, and flooring. Our customers were businesses in the timber and building materials sector, and I enjoyed helping them make the right choices. When my time at Fetim came to an end, I briefly explored another industry, but I soon realized I missed working with wood. So, when the opportunity arose in 2015 to join Centrop Houtimport, I didn’t hesitate. There, I developed a deep passion for softwood, inspired by my colleagues. Over seven years, we brought many great ideas to life.
That passion for softwood led me to Max Hout. We share a love for spruce, pine, and Douglas fir and appreciate the versatility of these softwood species. We also have the same approach to working with customers—maintaining regular and strong communication is essential to us, and we never say "no." We think along with our clients and always find a way to help. We stay informed about market trends and customer needs, ensuring we always offer the best deal.

Meet Angélique
The puzzle pieces are falling into place!
Five years ago, Max started Max Hout. What’s the first thing you need to establish your presence? A strong logo. As a graphic designer, I took on the challenge of creating the logo and shaping the entire corporate identity. Before long, Max also needed administrative support, which turned out to be a perfect fit for me. In addition to being a graphic designer, I have also worked as a secretary in the past. Three days a week, I’m in the office handling various administrative tasks—just like in any office.
Working with timber aligns perfectly with my passion for nature and, by extension, sustainability. Wood plays a crucial role in preserving our planet. On a smaller scale, I contribute to sustainability by being mindful of products, food, waste, and our environment. Horseback riding and everything that comes with it keep me connected to the essence of life: being there for one another—people, animals, and nature.

Meet Mila
I’m Mila, a Vizsla—a hunting dog with a very sweet nature. Every morning, my owner Max takes me for a long walk before we head to the office. There, I have lots of toys and a cozy bed. When Max visits clients, I often get to go along. If that’s not possible, Angélique takes care of me.
Every afternoon, we go for a big walk where I can play, run, and swim with other dogs. Sometimes, I think I’m a lap dog—I love being petted! I also make sure there’s plenty of relaxation in the office.
